Q2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
My idea for my video was the tell the narrative stort of a girl and boy who are a couple, and how they miss each other when they are not together. The two people I used in my video were a couple in real life so this meant there was no uncomfortableness between them during scenes. My plan was to have a girl lip syncing when she’s on her own, during the winter months. I was lucky to have snow a couple of weeks before my filming so that when I did film my work it snow was mostly melted but the air was frosty and there was still some snow left. I filmed my scenes with the girl and the boy; during the earlier months when it was sunnier, my idea for this was that the girl is alone and therefore is unhappy, the colder months and frosty air reflect this, then she remembers times with her boyfriend when she is happy, these flash backs were filmed earlier on in the year so it was sunnier. The song was uplifting and light and I wanted the style to reflect this. I choose to have bright and pastel colours in my video because I felt it reflected the colours.
For my digipak I wanted the same uplifting style to be present. There is a lot of walking away from the camera in my film, the song talks about how the girl wants to be with her boyfriend, however not in a way that she has been dumped but in a way that she misses him and they are very much in love. The walking away symbolises her walking all over trying to find him. I wanted my digi pak to be just of the girl because even though the boy was a main character. The artist is the girl and it is not a duet. I wanted to use pale and pastel colours, rather than extravagantly bright colours as I thought this would look more professional but also matches the video.
I researched many other artists of the same type of genres’ digipak before making mine, however I did not replicate another artists work but felt my digipak would fit into the genre.
I kept this theme throughout in my advertisement as well. I experimented with different effects on photo shop, as I knew I wanted some kind of water colour effect, but I was not particularly familiar with photoshop so being able to look at a variety effects benefitted me and helped me find the perfect one.
I looked at many different music magazines and adverts on television and billboards around my local area for research, I replicated the style of my video and digipak in my advertisment. The advertsiment like many professional ones, has release dates, tour dates, where to purchase the album from and critics comment from NME magazine.
I felt I achieved what I set out to do, I matched the charectersitcics, camera angles, and the style I was going for; this was due to researching well. I feel like I effectively promoted my artist by using the digipak and advertisment and I gave across the image I was hoping to.

Digi Pak Construction
Below are two stills i decided not to use for my digi pak but did consider.

Below is the template for the CD part of the digipak and photos of how i edited my digi pak CD.

Like many CD's now, they have their CD image the same as the background so that when the CD is removed the image is the same.
Below is my final product:

Music Proposal
The song I have decided to do for my music video is 'Knock Knock' by Lenka. I originally put my three choices down to be 'Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful' by Paloma Faith, 'Fidelity' by Regina Spektor and 'Hollywood' by Madonna, however all three songs had videos and were under ten years old; after some research on other artists with the same tone as my originally choices I decided to do Lenka 'Knock Knock'
Performers – My performers will be a girl and a boy; as the artist for this song is a girl, the majority of the video will involve her, but to follow the narrative story I plan to use.
Costumes-I don't have any specific ideas for costumes but as the song is quirky I would like a more summery theme so the boy in light skinny jeans and a white or gray tee shirt with the girl in a summery dress and ballet pumps, or possibly heels.
le="font-size:small;">
Location- I have numerous ideas for locations. These include joyden wood woods a train, a rowing boat, a winding lane (crockenhill or eynsford) during a bike ride, Eynsford river and Faringham area as I like the cottage feel to the area, and the lecture theatre at my school. I want the filming to be done during the day as it will be light and breezy.
Narrative Ideas-The lyrics to the story are not particularly narrative in my opinion, they tell of a girls need to see her boyfriend when life goes wrong and how he makes everything better. I would like to portray this in my video, using scenes of the girl on her own and with the boyfriend. In shots on her own she will be lip syncing, however I'm unsure, and need further consideration as to whether the girl will sing when together with her boyfriend.
Camera Angles – As I am planning to use a variety of locations, I will need to use a variety of camera angles ranging from extreme long shots to extreme close ups, at one point in my song the lyrics are ‘Knock Knock’ I plan to use a extreme close up of my artists lips while she lip syncs.
Editing Styles – I plan to use the cloning technique and have lots of different freeze shots of my artist. I would also like to use the moving photo technique with a post card which would them move into another part of the video. I am considering using pieces of paper with words on them, like Ugly by Sugar Babes; as well as using slow motion at one point.
Style and Influences – I would like my style to be quirky and summery to mix well with the song. My influences for my video, are videos by Regina Spektor, Paloma Faith, Marina and the Diamonds and I Blame Coco. The style for my girl i would like to go for is Alexa Chung

Bad Touch Video Editing Evaluation
During this process I learnt skills which will benefit my future work; how to import, cut, move and resize scenes. Also how to change the speed duration, reverse shots, flip shots and crop them.
Emotionally the process was a struggle, it took a lot of time and paintence, and trouble with the computers meant not continulously saving work could mean loosing it as the application would freeze or quit without warning. It was a frustrating process that i felt required breaks inbetween. However i am greatful for doing it as it has given me an insight to my video and how the process will go for that.
